Laser Dentistry (2 of 6)

What exactly is the dental laser?

It's simply a beam of highly concentrated light delivered in short pulses through a flexible optical fiber.

Will it hurt?

Most patients find laser procedures remarkably comfortable. So comfortable in fact, that in most cases, no anesthetic is required. People who have experienced laser treatment report feeling nothing more than the touch of the handpiece and an occaisional slight sensation of warmth. If you should experience any discomfort, your dentist may elect to use conventional anesthesia.
